1996-97 SEASON REVIEW

A Review of the clubs 1996-97 Season, saw things begin full of promise, with the record signing of Alan Shearer. Despite a poor showing in the Charity Shield & this would be the season that the Keegan’s entertainers’ era came to an end, they finished the season as runners up in league, gaining Champions League entry & there was also the unforgettable 5:0 demolition of Man. Utd. Kevin Keegan’s resignation in January, caused shock; but his replacement Kenny Dalglish carried on for the remainder of the season were Keegan had left off.
